Wood County Court Calendars Explained
Odyssey Public Access is the county's electronic front door. Its landing page puts Court Calendar right beside Criminal Records and Civil Records. The calendar view shows what matters are set on a given date. Working from a single known case works too. Open the case detail and read its settings there. The district attorney's own instructions back this up. A criminal case number unlocks more detail, court settings included.
Wood County also publishes criminal docket PDFs, organized by month and session. The archive spans all criminal sessions plus special settings, pretrial hearing dockets, and jury trial dockets. Civil PDFs exist separately but hold far less. Neither archive reaches every lower court. A JP or municipal ticket has to be checked with the precinct or city named on the citation.
Wood County Odyssey Calendar Selector
The Wood County Online Services directory points you to Judicial Records Search. Pick Court Calendar, not Jail Records or Jail Bond Records. The jail options track custody, not court settings. The county publishes no field glossary and no fixed posting window. There is no refresh schedule either. Trust only the controls the live screen actually shows.
A date view answers what is set for a session. A case view answers what comes next for one file. Use both when you can. A calendar may list a session. Case detail supplies the cause number, court, filing context, and later setting history. Remember that neither screen is a signed order or a certified docket.
What gets posted varies by case type. The criminal archive carries recent annual groups; the civil archive leans toward older docket material. Probate skips the sparse docket page. It uses a hearing-request form instead. These are parallel Wood County channels, not copies of one master schedule. Match the source to the court before treating any entry as current.
Finding Your Court Date
Pull out the newest citation, summons, notice, or order you have. It names the court and usually carries the cause number. From there, work through each access channel that fits:
- Choose Criminal Records, Civil Records, or Court Calendar in Odyssey.
- Compare an official posted criminal or civil docket when it covers that court and date.
- Call the District Clerk at 903-763-2361 or visit its courthouse counter for District Court case help.
- Call County Court coordinator Katlyn Neighbors at 903-763-2716 or District Court coordinator Susan Perez at 903-763-2332.
- For a JP or municipal matter, contact the precinct or city court shown on the ticket.
One more electronic layer exists statewide: re:SearchTX, which serves mainly registered users. It supplements Wood County's calendar. It does not replace the originating court's confirmation.
Wood County Probate Monday Settings
Probate works on its own scheduling track. The request form wants the cause number, case style, hearing type, expected length, preferred dates, contested status, reporter need, witnesses, and whether the original will has reached the County Clerk. Email the completed form to probate.hearings@mywoodcounty.com. The form states plainly not to e-file it.
Monday format: Probate hearings may be held by Zoom on Monday mornings by request, while Monday afternoons are in person.
For Zoom, proposed orders, judgments, and the death certificate must be e-filed by 9 a.m. Friday before the Monday setting or the hearing may be reset.
Preferred dates are only requests. Confirm the date was granted before you rely on it.
How to Read a Court Setting
A setting tells you when and why a matter is expected in court. Read the court name first. Then find the latest date and setting type. The posted County Court criminal format lists several fields. These include docket date and time, cause number, hearing type, offense, file date, counsel, and bond fields. No courtroom appears in that format, so never guess a room from a past visit.
| Date | The scheduled date, subject to a later reset or order. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed call or appearance time. |
| Courtroom | Use only a room on the latest notice or confirmed by staff. |
| Judge or Court | The assigned tribunal, such as 402nd District Court or County Court. |
| Setting Type | Status conference, pretrial, plea, special setting, or jury trial. |
Wood County Calendar Terms
Local sources use plain labels. Each names an event, not the final outcome.
- Status Conference
- A case-management appearance seen in a posted County Court criminal docket.
- Special Settings
- A separately scheduled criminal block.
- Pre-Trial Hearing Docket
- Matters set to address issues before trial.
- Jury Trial Docket
- Cases on a jury-trial list; not every listed case necessarily starts trial.
- Order to Appear
- A municipal-calendar reason requiring attendance.
Wood County publishes no official reset-code glossary. An unclear abbreviation goes to the clerk or coordinator.
Continuances, Resets, and Cancellations
A continuance or reset moves the schedule. It is not a dismissal and not a judgment. The old entry stays as docket history, but the newest signed order or confirmed setting is what governs. The criminal docket archive itself warns that dockets change without notice, which matters a great deal for anyone relying on a saved PDF.
When Odyssey, a PDF, and a notice disagree, compare their dates and call the right office. District Court settings belong to its coordinator. County Court settings belong to its coordinator. Probate uses its special form. JP and city matters stay with those courts. Never contact a judge directly about a pending case.
Wood County Calendar Fallback Chain
A thin civil archive does not mean no hearing exists. Check Odyssey. Look at both case detail and Court Calendar. Then call the right coordinator or clerk. The District Clerk holds 402nd District Court civil, family, felony, and juvenile files. The County Clerk holds County Court criminal, civil, probate, mental-health, and guardianship files.
For documentary proof, the District Clerk takes requests by email, fax, or mail. Cases filed since 2016 sit on Judicial Records Search. A certified docket or signed setting order can settle a conflict that a screen cannot. The Wood County case lookup shows how to find the matching file first.
Wood County Remote Hearing Factors
Wood County judges pick between remote and in-person formats using the county's operating plan. Technology access, disability, interpreter availability, and incarceration can all shape that call. So can confrontation rights and specialty-court needs. But the plan promises nothing about remote access. The newest notice governs. The coordinator can confirm the format a court actually approved.
Request any access support well before the hearing date. Check the link, the start time, and the document deadline. Also check whether the setting is still remote. Probate follows a Monday pattern, though that schedule binds no one else. District Court, County Court, the JPs, and the municipal courts each run their own calendar.
Treat a remote hearing with the same care as a courtroom appearance. Keep your cause number and the coordinator's contact at hand. Keep the latest order close too. If the connection drops, reach the court the way the notice directs. A technical glitch does not cancel the hearing or excuse attendance. Only the court can change a Wood County setting.
If You Miss a Court Setting
Act quickly after missing a setting. Call the court that set the case. Call your attorney if you have one, and any bond contact. Ask what the docket now shows. Ask whether the court entered a warrant, forfeiture, new date, or other order. Staff can explain procedure, but they cannot give legal advice or promise an outcome.
Act promptly. A missed setting can lead to serious court action, depending on the case and order.
Do not appear at a different Wood County court or assume the matter moved to the next session.
Get instructions from the court holding the case and seek licensed legal advice when needed.
